The Spartan Diet
Posted on Wednesday December 05, 2007 by Pete

Spartan culture has been popularized by the recent Hollywood film, 300.  The Spartans were without question the greatest warriors of the ancient world and perhaps all time; they are known for their iron-willed training.  They had no trade other than that of a warrior, every single day since the age of 7 they trained their bodies into the perfect fighting machine.  The dictionary defines the word spartan as, 'suggestive of the ancient Spartans; sternly disciplined and rigorously simple, frugal, or austere.'  The meals and ingredients used are very spare and simple.  This diet is designed to get you as lean as possible.  Here is a shopping list.

Randy: Hi, Im a 28 yo , who wants to get in shape. I weigh 230 Pds, 5/9, and would like to know how to lose weight, any tips , or advice would be greatly appreciated. The diets you have posted seem to be more for individuals that dont have very much body fat. I recently lost 11 pounds from cutting out all the junk in my diet, and would like to reach the goal of weighing in at 185 to 190. Hitting the gym 6 days a week has helped. I would like to see more defined results though. Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon.
