It's 1 am, and I just finished uploading the quinoa pasta video clips. I've actually eaten 3 bowls of the quinoa pasta so far, and it's very yummy!
Ingredients:
1 box of quinoa pasta
20 oz of 99% ground turkey
2 Buffalo Steaks
Fresh Basil
1 can of Barilla Marina Sauce
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of oysters
Mrs. Dash No Sodium Seasonings
Feta cheese
Directions:
Grill buffalo steaks so that they are finished before you start preparing the bulk of the meal. Chop Basil and set aside. Preheat pan, and flavor with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, add 20 oz of ground turkey. Add Mrs. Dash No Sodium Seasonings to the turkey breast. Empty Barilla Marina Sauce into a pot, add fresh basil, garlic and balsamic vinegar to the sauce.
Slice the buffalo steaks and set aside. When the turkey breast is 80% cooked, add the can of tomato sauce to the turkey. Also, add basil to the turkey when you add the tomato sauce. Add the can of oysters to the barilla marina sauce
Once the water in the pasta pot starts to boil, add quinoa pasta - cook 4 to 6 minutes for al dente, 8 minutes for soft. Strain the pasta, and add the turkey and barilla marina sauce to the now empty pasta pot. Mix. Place the quinoa pasta back into the pasta pot, mix. Top with feta and serve.
It is called quinoa (pronounced keen-wa), and is a grain that comes from the Andes Mountains of South America. Quinoa's origins are truly ancient. It was one of the three staple foods, along with corn and potatoes, of the Inca civilization. Quinoa was known then, and still is known, with respect, as the mother grain. We call it the "Supergrain of the Future."
Quinoa contains more protein than any other grain; an average of 16.2 percent, compared with 7.5 percent for rice, 9.9 percent for millet, and 14 percent for wheat. Some varieties of quinoa are more than 20 percent protein.
Quinoa's protein is of an unusually high quality. It is a complete protein, with an essential amino acid balance close to the ideal ... similar to milk!
Quinoa's protein is high in lysine, methionine and cystine. This makes it an excellent food to combine with, and boost the protein value of, other grains (which are low in lysine), or soy (which is low in methionine and cystine).
Rich & Balanced Source of Nutrients
Besides its unique protein, quinoa also provides starch, sugars, oil (high in essential linoleic acid), fiber, minerals, and vitamins.
Easy on the Stomach
Quinoa is light, tasty, and easy to digest. It is not sticky or heavy like most other grains, and it has a delicious flavor all its own.
Quick and Simple to Prepare
A whole-grain dish of quinoa takes just 15 minutes.
Versatile
Quinoa can be substituted for almost any grain in almost any recipe. It looks and tastes great on its own, or in any dish from soup to salad.
Perfect for Summertime
Many people eat grains only during the colder months, but quinoa's lightness combined with its versatility in cold dishes like salads and desserts makes it an ideal source of good summertime nutrition.

Patient Perseverance: Hey Pete: Quinoa pasta sounds very healthy. Have you ever tried Barilla Plus. It tastes awesome, can be made "al dente," and contains 17 grams of protein per serving, along with 360 mgs. of Omega 3 oil, and a whopping 7 grams of fiber. The other cool think about it is that it is readily available at most supermarkets as spaghetti, penne, etc. I make it with everything from simple tomato sauce to topping it with chick peas sauteed in olive oil and garlic with some hot pepper and salt. The chick peas (which along with bread and oil fed the Roman legions) adds protein and fiber. Of course, like any complex carb, portion control is a must. :-)01/02/2008
Peter Adonis: Timmy, I get it in the health food section of Publix, but I'm sure a place like Whole Foods, Trader Joes would have it as well. -Peter Adonis01/02/2008
Timmy!: sounds pretty good pete... now i am gonna have to see if i can find this pasta in my stores ;)01/02/2008
Peter Adonis: Felix The Cat - it's funny you mentioned that. I was thinking that it could be a little dangerous if oil splatter onto my chest or abs! -Peter Adonis01/01/2008
Felix the Cat: Great recipe - and great listening to you making it (not to mention watching you do so). Be careful when cooking without a shirt on!12/31/2007
