Question and Answer Session
Posted on Wednesday September 10, 2008 by Pete

Hey everyone, here are three questions that I just answered on video.  Enjoy, and I hope you learn from it.

'Hi Pete, I stumbled upon your blog here doing a web search, and have read just about everything posted! I'm relatively new to weight training, about 18 months now. I've made some progress, but like most guys, I'd like to add more size. I've got a question about supplementation. In addition to Whey Protein for shakes, and have used both Universal Nutrition's Animal Pump, and Gaspari Nutrition's SizeOn. In my research of these products before trying them, user comments were very positive. I've not really seen anything the way of results from either of them. I wondered if you have any thoughts on Creatine supplements, as I'm drowning in a sea of information and can't seem to come to a conclusion of the best way to go. Many thanks for your thoughts, and for all the good information you share here. Alex'

'First of all, I am so glad I came across your site! You're full of really great info! I'm 21, 6'7" and weigh 160, on a good day. I've tried for years to gain weight, muscle of course, and I've had very little success. In November of last year I had a goal, 30 lbs in 30 days. I drank shakes, ate 4-6 times a day, went to the gym DAILY and even took a kind of 30 day steroid (i know, I KNOW! STUPID!) but after the 30 days was up, I had only gained 10 lbs, which I've been told is pretty good! However, I quickly got discouraged and stopped going. It's almost a year later, I'm almost 22, and I'm sick and tired of having my chest bones protrude through my shirts! I'm seeing a personal trainer today, actually, to hopefully get started again. Any advice that you have for the overly lanky and awkwardly tall and skinny, I'd love to hear it! Thanks so much! Allan'

'Hi pal, I wrote you two or three months ago, i asked you for vitamins and that kind of stuff because sometimes i had classes and i didnt have time for lunch and other questions. I dont know if you remember... I followed your guides from that time and i went to university gym very often. I'm on a "stand by" because of my exams. My questions this time are 1. if there is a kind of breathing technique, because in some kind of exercises i did, my strenght finished very fast. Some friends told me that you have to inhale when you lift some weight and exhale when you go down... I dont know if i was clear sorry my english pal... In the specific case of the exercise with the bar for chest i heard two versions, the one told you and the opposite. I preferred to breathe when i raise the bar and exhale when i put my arms down. But sometimes the effort made i change the secuence and I breathe in the opposite way. Well, in the other hand, I dont see much results I made nearly two months of directed exercises, one day for arms, other to chest... and I see my friends, you and other people and i ask what's wrong why it doesnt work for me. Tell me what can I do. Pato, Guayaquil, Ecuador'

Pato: Thanks for your help pal. I hear all the answers, and I'm returning to the exercises now i'm on vacation and it hurts when you werw a lot of time without making exercise (almost a month). Well, i'm eating the three basic meals of the day but I try to eat frits, bread in the intermediate time. I will try to est more eggs (i'm begginning to add two teach day in my breakfast)and tuna. And I do more exercises, I put in the question only chest and arms but I put that only for example. My complete routine is 1. chest and biceps 2. back and triceps 3. legs and arms. I don't know if I can "add" more body parts to that days. And about the breathing I understand everything (about to inhale when I raise the bar, the weights for the biceps or whatever and exhale when i go down) except for a part you said about something dangerous, can you repeat that please but written. Sorry but sometimes i don't understand some words in english in native speakers... My vacations end in one more week. Then i'll come back to clases and to the exercises in my university, nowadays i'm going to a little gym near to my house. If I have more questions i'll write you soon but now i say you thnk you because you had made me a great favor pal. Thanks, Marcelo Ecuador

Peter Adonis: Jake, you are correct. When you watch the video, you'll see that I say that if you can gain 5 to 7 lbs of pure muscle each and every year, you are on the right path. -Peter Adonis

jake: If I gained 10 lbs of muscle in a YEAR I would very happy. How much can you gain in 30 days on steroids with the right diet and training? 10 lbs in a month sounds much even for steroids.
