Question And Answer, September 20th, 2009

"Pete, I heard that it's good to have sugar or dextrose along with my post-workout shake. Because of the release of insulin the protein goes into the system quicker right? Does it matter what type of sugar I take? Does it have to be a healthy sugar? Can I just have some candy or cookies? Is that even a good idea?"

"Hi Pete! I'm a 49 years old man. I started to workout a few months ago (about 10 months). Till now, I haven't seen too many results. My weight is 138 pounds. I've always been a skinny guy, I'm trying to get a few more weight and get muscular mass. Can you advice me what exercises should I do? What diet plan should I follow? Thanks in advance for your help! Manuel"

Jesus Calderon: I learned a great deal from your answer to the first question. I have only been having protein after my workouts, but now I realize I need those simple carbs in order to maximize my muscle gains. Thanks for clearing this up for me. Jesus Calderon
