"Hey Peter, I am from Hong Kong. And I notice that it is really really hard for me to gain weight. Now I weight more or less 120 lb. and I am 5'10'. And it seems like I can't gain any weight at all? Is it true that I have to get fat in order to become muscular? Any thing that you recommend for me to eat? I heard that there is some protein powder to drink, is it useful? Thanks for your help! Best regards, Mike
"Hey Pete, can you train your abs everyday? Also im going to the gym weight training 5 days a week(different muscle group everyday)6 days a week cardio my other question is as my goal is to get more lean muscle mass should my goal be to go up 5 lbs per excercise per week?thank you for your expertise"
"Hi Pete, This is Raymond from "sick out of it" "Im 6'1 and a half, 345lb and 19 years old" does any of that ring a bell? Anyway I took your advice and I now weigh 320lb = ). Ive been eating a lot of protein and veggies like you suggest but I wanted to know would a bagel a day be too much? or should I just reject all carbs. I now jog for about 45min to an hour early Tuesday and Thursday morning. I haven't gone to the gym to start my weight training because I'm pretty self-conscience about my body. Any advice on how I could get over it? Ps i miss eating pizza : ("

Peter Adonis: Back in 1982, pediatricians were saying that weight lifting was both unsafe and ineffective for growing teens. However, in 1990 this position was reversed due to the discovery that it was effective and safe if done correctly, and that most injuries occurred from a breakdown in technique, while lifting excessive weight, and/or a loss of control of the weight. It was learned that resistance training is effective down to age 6 years. Girls, and pre-pubertal boys, grow stronger without building muscle. This mostly is due to better coordination of muscle activity. Older boys in puberty will see the added benefit of increasing muscle size due to the presence of testosterone (your own natural anabolic steroid). So the effectiveness of training is no longer in question. Safety is the main concern. -Peter Adonis11/21/2009

Peter Adonis: Curious - are you deaf? I don't keep a written transcript of the audio, but your best bet might be to get a friend to watch the video with you and sign it to you. Do you have a friend or family member that could do that? -Peter Adonis11/19/2009
Curious: How can I learn this answer without hearing since I cannot hear. Is there any transcript? Can you send me an attachment about the answer? I am trying to gain weight that is hard for me. Thanks.11/17/2009
