June 28th, Question and Answer
Posted on Sunday June 28, 2009 by Pete

"Hey Pete- I'm about 6'1" and weigh about 220. I have a really solid base, strong legs, don't have a huge stomach but I do have "man boobs". I really hate that my chest is a little saggy and there's a layer of fat there. I know there's muscle (pecs) under there cause I can bounce them and see that. I just wanna know will doing consistent cardio and eating a clean diet eventually get rid of my man boobs? What exercises do you reccomend? How long will it take to lose them? Is there hope?"

"I am 5'10 and I weighed in at 325 pounds in January. But I changed my diet to 2000 calories, paying attention to nutrition and started cardio 3 days a week for 30 minutes. five months later, I've lost 28 pounds and progressed to 5 days of 60 minute cardio sessions with full body weight training 3 days a week. My question is am I doing too much cardio? What's the max to help me lower my Body Mass Index, and what should I change? Should I break my weight training to a Body Section a day?"

"Hi Pete, I keep getting differing and conflicting advice about incorporating cardio into my strength training. I lift five days a week (Chest Monday, Back Tuesday, Shoulders Wed, Legs Thurs, Arms Fri) I shoot for six exercises per day. At this point I'm just doing three sets of 12-15 per exercise with 90 second rest in between eat set (though I will eventually up it to four sets of 10-12, and later to five sets of 8-10, before taking it back down to three of 12-15). My lifting work out takes between 40 and 60 minutes (depending on which "mode" I am in. So when do I do cardio? People tell me not to do it before the workout citing the need to retain my strength for the lifting. Others tell me not to do it after the lifting because it will hinder repair of muscle fiber during the active rebuilding time - plus, after an hour of lifting, i find I'm often too tired to run 4 miles in 35 minutes. Is the only solution to separate the two? Do, for example, lifting in the early morning and cardio in late afternoon? Or might it be better to stick with doing cardio on weekends alongside my yoga classes? Love your advice, hope to hear from you Chris"

Peter Adonis: Chris, I see what you are saying, it did the same thing for me, I will try to repost your question this Friday, maybe by having a smaller clip, it will be less likely to do that... I did forward it to the tech guys, so they can take a look. -Peter

Christopher: Hi Peter, This is Chris from your last video posting (I had the question about incorporating cardio with strength training). Thanks so much for responding - however, it seems there's a error in the video you posted. It seems to stop midway displaying a message "Buffering image. Please wait...". This always happens midway, just as you're finishing up the response to the second letter (from Victor), in the same time index each time. Thus I haven't been able to see your response to my letter! I don't know how much control you have regarding uploads to the website but if you could just respond to me via email or look into the video error, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks a lot.
