Gaining Weight, Turmeric

I have been trying to gain weight for many years now. I am an avid runner but I have reduced my running and increased weight lifting. I eat 3 to 5 meals a day and I also drink high protein/calorie shake before I go to bed. My question is: If I have a high metabolism do I need to eat more meals and completely stop running? Should I eat certain kinds of foods? How much sleep should I be getting?
