Hey Pete! I've been following your blog for the past 6 months. I'm 22 years old, 6'0" and weighed in at 400 lbs. I have been overweight my entire life until I came on this site by accident. Thanks to the advice in both nutrition and exercise you've posted, I have lost 112 lbs in the last 6 months. I was borderline diabetic, had high blood pressure, suffered from chronic fatigue, had sleep apnea and my resting heart rate was at a high 98 bpm. Now, everything is normal! Sugar is normal, blood pressure is normal, sleep apnea went away completely, have tons of energy and my resting heart rate is now 62 bpm. I feel absolutely incredible! And I wanted to say, THANK YOU! I want to get down to 200 lbs with quite a bit of muscle. I've picked up on many different supplements and vitamins. I still however feel that I'm clueless when it comes to weights. I feel like an idiot at the gym. Hiking outdoors in Vegas and Utah is my forte, but the weight room on the other hand is my weakness. My principal question is ... How do you know how much weight you should be lifting when starting out? I have read so many things online and everyone seems to have a different opinion. What's your take on this? Also, how do you feel about taking a protein shake pre and post workout for muscle retention and growth? And finally, I hear that Nitric Oxide is a gym goers best friend. Do you use it, and what benefits can I get out of using it and when should I use it? Thanks again Pete! 88 lbs more to go!!! :D
